[EMPTIES] January 2016

Hey guys and gals, January is coming to a close and in about two weeks I'm going to go home for February break, I've accumulated a lot of empty products that I want to throw away before I go home. So let's get on with it~

If you've never stumbled upon empties videos on youtube or blog posts, essentially you accumulate products that you use up and then you give your opinion on them. It's a little bit better than regular favorites in my opinion because it shows off my accomplishments (I don't use up products that often) and you get a more honest review (the person used up all of the product).

Skincare:
-Simple Sensitive Skin Experts cleansing micellar water
-HEELA Natural Mask Sheet Snail (I got through two of them)
-Nature By Brightening Mask Sheet
-Nature By Green Tea Essence Mask Sheet
-Nature By Aloe Essence Mask Sheet
-Nature By Firming and Wrinkle Mask Sheet
-Nature By Collagen Mask Sheet
-TONYMOLY Tomatox Magic Massage Pact

Comments:

The simple micellar water got finished up really quickly and it worked amazingly. It moisturized my skin after I used it to clean off my makeup, it doesn't take off waterproof makeup but I usually remove my eye makeup with a separate makeup remover anyways. I would recommend it if you're looking for a gentle makeup remover or you're too lazy to use a cleanser and all that stuff. All the face masks were average, I picked them up for a dollar at an Asian supermarket. They were decent but not overly impressive. The TONYMOLY face pact was decent and worked well at first, but the results were temporary. The brightening that your skin got went away in one day. It was messy to apply and also I think towards the end it started to break me out. I wouldn't recommend it. Just to note, I didn't take pictures of the face masks because they were too messy and gross looking to make look aesthetically pleasing for the post.

Bodycare:
-Victoria Secret Forever Pink Sparkling Apple and Water Lily body mist
-Victoria Secret Pink with a splash of sweet and flirty all over body mist
-The Body Shop Vineyard Peach Shower Gel
-The Body Shop Vineyard Peach Body Lotion
-Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede cologne sample (x3)
-Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamom cologne sample (x2)
-Jo Malone Red Roses cologne sample
-Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom and Honey cologne sample
-Victor and Rolf Flowerbomb perfume sample
-Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume sample
-Marc Jacobs Honey perfume sample

Comments:

The Victoria Secret body sprays smelled nice but I'm at that time of my life where I am really over all the Victoria Secret scents. It was nice while it lasted, but I'd probably never buy body sprays from them again. The Vineyard peach line is great and the quality of the shower gel and body lotion are awesome. The gel lathered up really smoothly almost like whipped cream and it was very moisturizing. The body lotion didn't leave a sticky feeling and dried really quickly. The peach scent wasn't overpowering. I already have a backup of the vineyard peach shower gel and The body shop usually has sales a lot so I might consider picking up the body lotion again. I would recommend both of these. (: I wasn't fond of any of the Jo Malone scents except the nectarine blossom and honey one, I actually purchased the full-size cologne of that one. I got all of these different scents as samples when I made that purchase. I don't think I would purchase the Flowerbomb, it was too heavy of a scent for my liking. Daisy is a scent I associate with one of my cousins so I don't like to copy scents. It's one of those things where I want people to smell a scent and recognize it as mines? I don't know I'm kind of weird. Honey is nice when I want to smell more flower, I have the rollerball of that scent.

Makeup:
-Maybelline Baby Lips in #70 Coral Crush
-Maybelline Define-a-brow in Medium Brown
-Estee Lauder eyeshadow duo

Comments:

I have got too many Babylips and I'm kind of done with purchasing them for now. Coral crush has a nice orange scent but after using it for a while, it kind of reminded me of the citrus Alka-seltzer scent. I wouldn't repurchase it, even though it was a pretty color. Anyways moving on, I bought the define a brow back in my senior year and it took me over 6 months to use it up, despite using it daily to fill in my brows. Lasts a long time and is a good product, I'd recommend it. :D The Estee lauder duo started to smell funky like Advil so I decided to just throw it away. It was a free gift with purchase type thing and was passed down to me from my mom. It's really pretty but I have tons of other shades that look like it.I wouldn't repurchase.

Well, that's all thanks for reading! (:

[REVIEW] Tarte LipSurgences and Matte LipSurgences

I got these minis in a set from a friend last christmas, and thought I might as well review them too. The set allowed me to test out a range of colors and formulas of the LipSurgences. There was originally one more mini tint in this set but I gave one to my cousin. Onwards to the review,

From Left to Right: Destined, Cheerful, Glee, Generous, Enamorous, Believe, Grateful

Colors: Destined - plum color
Cheerful - carnation pink
Glee - rosy pink
Generous - nude
Enamorous - glossy orange red
Believe - glossy barbie pink
Grateful - glossy nude

Price (Full Size): ~ $24

Rating: 6/10

Pros:
- Comfortable to wear
- Smooth texture
- Doesn't cling onto dry patches
- Good color selection
- Doesn't have to be sharpened
- Cruelty-free
- Easy application, precise because of pencil

Cons:
- Minty Smell (con for me)

Would I recommend/repurchase? || Overall Comments: Yes and no, I would recommend to people who like easy lip products to throw on especially when they come in these mini sets, it's a really good value. I personally wouldn't repurchase because I don't like mint scented lip products, but these were nice to use. I will use them up and the smell isn't unbearable but I don't think I'll pick up another one.

[REVIEW] Maybelline Color Tattoo in #55 Inked in Pink

Finally not a lip product review right? My makeup collection is just comprised of mostly lip products, sorry. I've had this up for a while and I'm actually trying to finish this up this year because it goes bad this year so I want to be able to get my money's worth out of it. Anyways let's start the review...

Colors: #55 Inked in Pink - pink with silver shimmer

Price: ~ $6

Rating: 7.5/10

Pros:
- Comfortable to wear
- Great for an eyeshadow base
- Doesn't crease
- Pigmented
- Good color selection
- Glass jar packaging c:

Cons:
- Not cruelty-free

Would I recommend/repurchase? || Overall Comments: Yes and no, I would totally recommend this it is a nice formula. It also makes eye shadow super easy, I can just use my finger to swipe a bit over my eyes and I'm ready to go out. I don't need to prime before because it doesn't crease on my eyes (speaking as an asian girl with double non-oily lids). I personally take forever to use up cream shadows and I still have so many powder eyeshadows that I don't think I would pick up another one in a long time. So repurchase in near future or future not thinking about it at the moment. Repurchase when I finish the shadows in my collection? Yes, I would consider picking another color tattoo up a different shade.

[REVIEW] Maybelline Colorsensational Lipsticks

I picked these up on a whim when at CVS because there were so many colors and the packaging was pretty cute. I also didn't have many lipsticks at the time...which is not true anymore my lipstick inventory has grown to such a huge extent that I haven't counted how many I have for fear of confronting how much I have. 3___3 It is real~ bad, man. All you girls and guys can relate if you like makeup, the different brands and the color selection just suck you in. Let's get on to the review C:

From Left to Right: #410 Blissful Berry, #935 Sin-a-mon, #065 Hooked on Pink

Colors: #410 Blissful Berry - Buildable plum berry
#935 Sin-a-mon - Brown-based nude
#065 Hooked on Pink - Antique Pink

Price: ~ $5.50

Rating: 7.5/10

Pros:
- Moisturizing
- Blendable, good for gradient lips
- Cute packaging
- Comfortable to wear
- Great color selection
- Wears off gracefully, doesn't get patchy
- Leaves nice tint on the lips
- Pigmented

Cons:
- Weird crayon lip smell
- Not cruelty-free
- Transfers easily

Would I recommend/repurchase? || Overall Comments: Yes and yes, there is a great range of colors and these are amazing as a cheap and good quality drugstore lipsticks. I would purchase from this line again probably not until I go through some of the lipsticks I have but these were nice. The smell was weird but you couldn't smell it once it was on your lips.

[REVIEW] Innisfree Ecofruits Tint #1 Cherry and #2 Orange

During the time that Benetint was super hyped up, I lusted after this product so hard. I wasn't about to spend $30 dollars on a lip tint though and discovering this $3 Innisfree water tint in on the internet was like hitting the jackpot for my broke high school a**. I have now acquired a sample size of the Benetint, which is glorious but this review is not about Benetint, it's about the Ecofruits tint so I'll stop rambling and start reviewing ...

From Left to Right: #2 Orange, #1 Cherry

Colors: #1 Cherry - Rosy pink tint | smells like cherry cough syrup
#2 Orange - Orange tint | smells like orange juice

Price: ~ $3 - $4

Rating: 6/10 for #2 | 3/10 for #1

Pros:
- Moisturizing
- Nice doe-foot applicator
- Orange is long lasting, the #1 doesn't stay long for some reason

Cons:
- Not long-wearing compared to other stains
- Not pigmented
- No matter what you do the water tint will get in your mouth
- Bad taste
- #1 smells gross ): to me at least

Would I recommend/repurchase? || Overall Comments: Yes/No and no, I would recommend the orange one. It smells amazing and looks really pretty under a pink gloss. The combo gives your lips a juicy coral look. The cherry one you can skip. #1 smells bad and there are better rosy pink water tints (like the Peripera one). I personally wouldn't repurchase because water tints last so long and I have so many other water tints to go through. It's a good product for the price though. o u o

Well that's all, thanks for reading! <3

[REVIEW] Skinfood Vita Tok Lipstick

These lipsticks have been around for a while and I first heard about them from teddybearkitties on Youtube. I picked these three colors up to test out. The lipsticks I have are in the old packaging and Skinfood has since repackaged these lipsticks to be a lot cuter but the colors are still the same so I thought I would give my two cents about these lippies. Leggo~

From Left to Right: #PK03 Sakura Peach, #PK05 Deep Sea Pink, #OR03 Energy Coral

Colors: #PK03 Sakura Peach - Sheer barbie pink
#PK05 Deep Sea Pink - Sheer apricot
#OR03 Energy Coral - Sheer coral

Price: ~ $6

Rating: 6/10

Pros:
- Moisturizing
- Smells nice, light hard candy smell
- Cute packaging
- Balm texture

Cons:
- Not long-wearing
- Not pigmented
- #PK03 and #PK05 catches onto dry spots

Would I recommend/repurchase? || Overall Comments: Yes and no, I think these are nice, but there are better sheer lipsticks out there that also last longer. This was good for the price and I don't regret the purchase. I enjoy them for what they are and I will use them up. Personally, I wouldn't repurchase because I have so many lip products that are sheer balm types. However, I do recommend that if you pick up this product pick up a darker color.

Well that's all, thanks for reading!!! <3

[REVIEW] Maybelline Baby Lips

Thought I would break up all the mostly Korean lip product reviews with something more easily accessible for people who can't order online or think the shipping rates are too much for Asian brands. I have a s*** ton of these because the packaging is so colorful and adorable and I just get sucked into buying these every time I'm in the drugstore. I've gone through two of the #05 Quenched, which is the original clear one and I'm currently on my third one. I have also used up a Baby lips in #10 Peppermint and #55 Coral Crave from the Dr.Rescue Line. This was before empties posts and videos were popular so I just threw them away. Yup...onwards to the review. The current #05 Quenched is not in my pictures because I forgot, and that's okay because it's just clear anyways.

From Left to Right: #175 Petal Rebel, #185 Hot Hibiscus, #190 Oh! Orchid!, #60 Berry Soft, #50 Soothing Sorbet, #25 Pink Punch, #15 Cherry Me, #60 Melon Mania, #70 Coral Crush

Colors: #175 Petal Rebel - Sheer light pink | almost clear
#185 Hot Hibiscus - Sheer hot pink
#190 Oh! Orchid! - Sheer light lilac | almost clear
#60 Berry Soft - Sheer berry
#50 Soothing Sorbet - Sheer Mauve
#25 Pink Punch - Sheer barbie pink | shows up kind of weird
#15 Cherry Me - Sheer red | FAVE~
#60 Melon Mania - Sheer neon pink
#70 Coral Crush - Sheer coral-orange | smells like oranges

Price: ~ $3 - $5

Rating: 7.5/10

Pros:
- Moisturizing
- Glossy
- Comfortable to wear
- Easy to put on
- Cute packaging, that has the names printed on the cap
- Nice smelling, the ones from Regular line smell like candy/floral depending on which line you get it from and the Dr.Rescue line smells like Vicks Vapor Rub :/ which I feel meh about

Cons:
- No Pigmentation, most of them come off fairly clear
- Not cruelty-free

Would I recommend/repurchase? || Overall Comments: Yes and no, I would recommend this because it's a nice lip balm to throw on when you just need a little bit of color on your face. It does soak into your lips and I can tell that it makes my lips softer the more I wear it. I also don't feel like it sits in a thick layer on top of my lips like Chapsticks do, so that's a plus. However, I have gone through so many and still have so many to use up that I don't think I will be trying any more Babylips for a while. I want to try some different brands. If you want color recommendations, my favorite is either the #05 Quenched (smells like Fruit Loops cereal) or #15 Cherry Me (Perfect red tint on the lips| I've used it so much I broke the bottom lol).

Well that's all, thanks for reading!!! <3

(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ Meet the Blogger!

Hey guys,

So after considering whether I should remain anonymous or not on my blog, I've decided I will show my face and do the "get to know me" tag. *dun dun dunnn~* Starting off with the tag (:

STATS:

Name: Katherina
Nicknames: Kat, Katarina (Like the league character lol)
Birthday: June 26
Place of Birth: MA, USA
Star Sign: Cancer
Zodiac Sign: Ox
Occupation: Student, and Part-timer

APPEARANCE:

Hair Color: Brown
Hair Length: Hella Long
Eye Color: Brown
Best Feature: Smile or Punny Humor v___v
Braces: Used to
Piercings: Only two so far, but considering more
Tattoos: None, but also considering
Righty or Lefty: Righty ^__^

I think that's all the questions from this tag that I want to answer because the rest are favorites and I have a hard time choosing for those. My favorites are fickle and tend to change every month. Especially for music, I replay the ones I like until I can't listen to them anymore and then it's onwards to the next song. hehe. I honestly started this blog to keep myself honest when doing project 10 pan and also to re-evaluate my makeup collection. I have started the project in the past but with nothing really motivating me and nowhere to report my success to. It became very easy to dismiss the project and I fell back into purchasing a bunch of items I didn't need. Plus since I'm in college = I don't have my parent's support anymore (to buy my groceries o 3 o) soooo I have to cut back on spending money on things I don't need.

My makeup hoarding habits all started when I discovered the youtube beauty world. I remember watching hours and hours of super huge makeup collections, lusting after everything they had. But recently, I've been more inspired by Youtube channels like My Green Closet, LightByCoCo, AlliCherry, and PrincessMei to be more conscious of the items I use and the ethics that go into making that product. Slowly, I'm trying to live a life that is more minimalistic and simple. This blog was created to document my journey as I use up products and add new items to my life. Rather than wanting to collect more, I've been feeling like using up what I already have and making the things in my life less overwhelming.

Lastly, I still have yet to show you guys my face right? Well, here's the big reveal.

Whoa o: right? Anywho, that's all thanks for reading!! I'll see you in the next post. <3

[REVIEW] Rimmel Show Off / Apocalips Lip Lacquer

I bought this before prom and graduation thinking that it was the greatest thing ever. It had been so hyped up on youtube and was always sold out in stores so it must've been a good product right? I decided to buy two and test it out for myself...

Left: Luna Right: Aurora

Colors: #500 Luna - Orangey peach
 #? Aurora - Raspberry pink

Price: ~ $7 - $8

Rating: 4/10

Pros:
- Cute Packaging
- Good pigmentation

Cons:
- Clings onto dry skin
- Really messy, always gets onto teeth
- Doesn't tint or last long
- Patchy when it fades
- Small Pet Peeve: They don't print the name on the packaging it's on the little sticker that seals it so after you open the product. It's f***ing impossible to know the name unless you remembered it.

Would I recommend/repurchase? || Overall Comments: No, never save your money this was such a waste. I really regret buying two. Both of them are untouched but since I'm going through my collection and trying to use up the products I'll eventually have to tough it out with this one. *sighs*

Well
that's all, thanks for reading!!! <3

[Project 10 Pan #1]

This is my first ever attempt at doing a project ten pan. Essentially, you pick ten products that you want to finish and you can't purchase any more makeup or beauty products until you have used up the designated ten products. Some people are more lenient on the rules, so they allow themselves to purchase essential things (sunscreen, face cream, etc.) or when they finish a product they allow themselves to buy one item. However, I have an excessive amount of products and even though I'm at my dorm the amount of beauty products I have with me is way more than I need. I'm honestly getting really overwhelmed with my stash and I feel like I'm not receiving my money's worth from these items. Needless to say, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to get to know my collection a little better and use up some things. So to sum it all up ...

Reasons Why I'm starting Project 10 Pan:

  • Too many duplicates and products
  • To get my money's worth out of the things I bought
  • To save money since I'm a broke college kid
  • To appreciate the products I have more (I'm not going to purchase any beauty products for myself while doing project pan since I want to be innovative** with the way I use up products)
**innovative in the sense that say I run out of my waterproof makeup remover instead of going out to replace it I will use jojoba oil or hemp seed oil to remove makeup. It would also simplify the number of items I use.

Products that I want to use up this round:

1. Victoria Secret Forever Pink Body Mist: Sparkling Apple and Water Lily

2. Victoria Secret Pink with a Splash: Sweet and Flirty

3. TONYMOLY Cat Wink Chu Tint Stick in #1 Crazy Green

4. TONYMOLY Cat Wink Chu Tint Stick in #3 Crazy Blue

5. Tarte mini LipSurgence Matte Lip Tint in destined

6. Maybelline Baby Lips in #25 Pink Punch

7. Innisfree Color Changing Tint Balm in #1 Strawberry

8. Maybelline Baby Lips Dr.Rescue in #50 Soothing Sorbet

9. Maybelline Baby Lips in #15 Cherry Me

10. Maybelline Baby Lips in #70 Coral Crush

Deadline:

I'm giving myself until April 1st to finish up all of these products, or at least, half of the products. I'll update monthly on my progress.

I thought that this would be a fun challenge and I hope that some of you will do this project with me. If someone happens to stumble upon this who is also doing project pan, leave me a link and I'll check out your blog!! Well that's all, thanks for reading!!! <3

[REVIEW] TONYMOLY Cat Chu Wink Lipstick

I have a lot of lip products, mostly because I just have a huge problem and it's so easy to talk myself into buying more lipsticks. "It's a slightly different pink than the 15 that I already have" or "It's a different formula or finish". I'm not sure if TONYMOLY still sells these but I'm making these reviews as kind of a record of the lip products I have. Let's get down to business ...

Left: Coral Pop Right: Peach Vanilla

Colors: #1 Peach Vanilla - Salmon Pink
#4 Coral Pop - Rosy Coral

Price: ~ $5

Rating: 5/10

Pros:
- Cute Packaging
- Light Floral Scent
- Affordable Price
- Coral Pop is nice for gradient lips
- Good pigmentation

Cons:
- Clings onto dry skin
- Is glossy so slightly moisturizing
- Patchy when it fades

Would I recommend/repurchase? || Overall Comments: No, I don't think you're missing out on much if you don't have it. It has super cute packaging, which reeled me and convinced me to buy it but quality wise it's not as good as some of the other Korean brand lipsticks I have tried. I say if you want a cute packaged Korean lipstick go for the Dear My Wish Talk Lipsticks from Etude House.

Well that's all, thanks for reading!!! <3

[REVIEW] TONYMOLY Cat Chu Wink Crazy Tint Stick

Yet another lippie review, I think you can see what direction my blog is headed. It's going to be me reviewing my collection and forcing myself to stop being in denial and buying more makeup. It's the road to minimalism in baby steps. I haven't bought any more lip products so it's progress. Alright leggo~

Left: Crazy Blue Right: Crazy Green

Colors: #1 Crazy Green - Peachy Red

#3 Crazy Blue - Light Pink

Price: ~ $5

Rating: 8/10

Pros:
- Moisturizing
- Slight floral scent, not noticeable when worn
- Tints lips well
- Not sticky
- Adorable packaging
- Super affordable, however have to get online

Cons:
- The tip turns a different color when used

Would I recommend/repurchase? || Overall Comments: Yes, I'm not sure how easily accessible this product is anymore. But it's a good balm tint and the color changing aspect is really intriguing and fun. Of course, the cute cat packaging just makes everything better. It's a good starter product and an easy to use balm. They last literally forever because they tint your lips semi-permanently. (For at least an 8 hour school day, I don't have to reapply)

Well that's all, thanks for reading!!! <3

[REVIEW] Innisfree Color Changing Tint Balm #1 Strawberry

I remember this product was part of my first ever online order so it's been a good 4 years since I've first acquired it. Considering I hadn't opened it till recently it's still in good condition and hasn't gone bad yet. I bought both the #1 Strawberry and #2 Mango, but I've only gotten through half of the Strawberry one and I have too many lip balms to break out the Mango one now. Anywho, onward to the review.

Color: #1 Strawberry

Rating: 7/10

Price: ~ $5

Pros:
- Super moisturizing, not sticky
- Leaves nice light pink tint after it fades
- Nice light strawberry candy scent (strawberry lollies)
- Doesn't cling to dry patches

Cons:
- Packaging cracked slightly
- Super intense color at first
- Balm texture goes away quickly
- If used multiple times consecutively can be patchy

Would I recommend/repurchase? || Overall thoughts: Yes, but it's now discontinued and it very expensive to order. At the Ebay price of $20, it is not worth. It's a nice colored lip balm that you can throw on before running off to class because you decided to set your alarm to 7:50 for your 8 am lecture. But there are other colored tints that would work just as well.

Well that's all, thanks for reading!!! <3
